Berengaria is a multi-published author of erotic romance: contemporary, paranormal (ghosts, vampires and werewolves) and Regency-set historical. She loves to read all different kinds of romance so that is what she writes: one man/one woman; two women; two men; two men/one woman; three men…. Whatever the characters need for their very hot happily-ever-after, Berengaria makes sure they get it.
How do you usually come up with a story idea? Dreams? Writer’s journal? Eavesdropping on conversations? Newspaper?
All of the above. The characters appear in my head and the plot just happens.
Who or what inspires you when your creative mojo is lagging?
I go sit in the mall with a coffee and people watch. There’s always something interesting happening somewhere.
Who is your Yoda—your seasoned mentor?
No Yoda, but I’m privileged to have some awesome author friends who inspire, motivate and help me.
What importance do you place on writing workshops? What workshops would you recommend to us?
They’re great to fix problem areas in your stories, or to venture into new-to-you genres or technology. If your critique partners think you are weak in a certain area, or your book has been rejected because of something, go to those workshops and see if they help you.
What person would you like to thank for inspiring you in your writing aspirations? How did this person help you?
Anny Cook’s world building is unbelievably good. I can only aspire to emulate her. Amarinda Jones read my first book, offered advice, and encouraged me to submit it to a publisher. I did and they contracted it.
Have you ever used songs for inspiration?
I’m more a rainforest sounds, bird calls, waterfalls kinda gal.
Do you play music when you write? If so, what kind? Or, do you have to have silence or background noise to set your writing muse free?

Do you read in a different genre than you write? If yes, why? If you read in the same genre that you write, do you feel that it influences your writing in any way?
I write across a broad range of genres and that’s the way I read. I’ll read anything from sweet to very kinky, paranormal, historical, suspense. Georgette Heyer very definitely inspired me to attempt writing Regency-set historicals.
What is your process from idea to first draft?
The characters hang out in my head until I know what they want. Then I write down a few main points that I plan for us to hit on the way through the book. Then I write.
Have you ever given assistance to a struggling new writer? Has another writer ever come to your aid? How?
Several writers have emailed/facebooked me for advice. As far as I could, I tried to answer their questions helpfully. See above for Anny Cook and Amarinda Jones.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishments in your career so far?
The first book sale is an awesome thrill. Every book sale is exciting but the first is extra special. I’ve had several books become reviewer top picks. That’s awesome. And some readers have asked for sequels to various books. That’s totally thrilling, and yes, it will happen. (One is written, sold, and releasing in June.)
If you won the big lottery, what would you do with the money? Would give any of it to charity? If so, which one?
Yes, to a charity that sends poor girl children to school, especially in Third World countries.
What is the best advice you want to give to a new writer?
Keep reading. Keep writing Keep polishing your book. Read the submission guidelines carefully. Follow them as best you can. Send your book to a house that publishes books like yours.
If you could choose an animal for a mascot, what animal would it be? What do you admire about this animal? Do you feel you have qualities similar to this animal? If so, what are they?
A house cat. They are looked after and do as they please.
If money, education and fear factors were set aside, what three careers would you like to attempt other than writing?
Marry a billionaire who adores me.
Be the mistress of a billionaire who adores me.
Be the child of a billionaire who adores me.
If money, talent and fear were no object, what big adventure would you like to have?
Live on the beach some place where it’s always summer.
What characteristics do you like to instill in your heroes? What characteristics do you feel are necessary for a good heroine?
The hero has to love the heroine. He can be a bit bossy, and arrogant, and stubborn, as long as he falls in love with her.
I like an ordinary heroine with some flaws. Everyone deserves their own happy ever after.
If you had the power to change two things in the world, what would those two things be?
No wars, and food, shelter, and education for everyone.
If could have a super power for a day, what would it be? Why?
Make all the politicians work on minimum wage at a really horrible job to give them a reality check.

Sloan was face down on the bed, his hands roped to the headboard, his legs wide apart and each foot roped to a bedpost. Several pillows pushed under his flat stomach kept his ass raised high. Stretched out like this, his six-foot-four inches easily reached from the head of the bed, to the foot, which meant Branden had tied the ropes quite firmly, allowing Sloan very little movement.
Branden crouched on the bed between Sloan's legs, a jar of oil in his hands. He gently ran a slippery palm over one of Sloan's shoulders and down his spine, then along his side and back up to the shoulder again. Sloan shivered. "Jeez, Brand. Will you, for fuck's sake, stick that finger in my ass, so we can get the main part of the program here?"
"Patience, patience. That's why I have you tied up. The longer you wait, the harder you'll come in the end."
"If I come any harder than I did last night, likely I'll break! I've never had such good orgasms as I do with you."
"I love you, Sloan. You know that, don't you?" Branden pressed soft kisses to the base of Sloan's spine, just above his highly fuckable ass.
"I love you, too, but I want some action here."
Getting there," soothed Branden, dripping some oil onto Sloan's butt and massaging the tense muscles there. Finally he gave in a little and dripped some oil along the crack, but still he didn't penetrate Sloan's ass. He merely teased around the cheeks, before returning to massaging Sloan's shoulders.
Brand leaned over Sloan's sexy body to press some kisses along his neck. Sloan's brown hair was cut military short, so there was plenty of sensitive skin around his neck to lick and nibble and suck. Tenderly, Branden sucked an earlobe into his mouth, before biting down on the fleshy part, then soothing his bite by sucking some more.
Next he flicked his tongue into Sloan's ear, and then trailed his hands down the man's body again, down, down, down. Branden crouched on his heels to oil his hands again, waiting for his heart rate to even out, noting how Sloan's lungs were heaving with arousal.
Brand's own dick was harder than a spike and aching with excitement. It wanted inside that dark hole so badly he was almost bursting. But it had to be better than good for Sloan. He loved Sloan so much he wanted it to be the best he could make it, every time.
