Quotes And A Contest And A Prize, OH MY!

Hello, romance fans! Today, I'm doing something different. (I'm sorry if you were expecting the conventional blog post, but I wanted to mix it up a bit with a contest.)

The prize is an ebook copy of my latest release, Silent Partner. How do you win it? Just by sending me the correct answers of who said these lines in books/movies/TV shows/cartoons etc. Some are more famous than others. Whoever has the most correct, wins. (*squee* They are some of my all time favorite lines.)

If I there's a tie, I will randomly draw a name. Please write your answers in order using the numbers below and send it to my email: rv@reneevincent.com
*Contest ends tonight at 9pm EST.*

Feel free to leave a comment here, but do NOT write our your answers in the comments section. That would not be fair.
*And I will post the correct answers tonight, for those who are curious, along with the winner.

Good luck!

#1 "It would take more than the words of a drunken adolescent girl to rob me of my desire for you."

#2 "Stop steaming up my tail. What are you trying to do? Wrinkle it?"

#3 "The spoon. You licked and-and you put. You licked and you put."

#4 "Hello. My name is Indigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

#5 "Sorry, not questioning your loyalties. Vampire solidarity. Rah, rah, rah and all that."

#6 "If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a might stranger: I should not seem a part of it."

#7 " Did you buy that dress to wear for me tonight?"

#8 "What do you want? I know what I want, cause I'm holding it in my hands."

#9 "Before we let you leave, your commander must cross that field, present himself before this army, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse."

#10 "Tell me, Mara. Say that you hate this, that you want me not between your thighs. Say it.”

Words From The Hero

Last month, when I had my blog tour, I featured some of my favorite hero lines from SILENT PARTNER. And so this month, (since it went over so well) I thought I'd feature some of the same, but from RÆLIKSEN and MAC LIAM (Book 1 & 2 of my Emerald Isle Trilogy).

Right now, both of those books are featured at ARe (All Romance eBooks) with a 40% off sale, and it's only for a limited time. So, if you like what you read here, jet on over and pick up those books at a huge discount.

Happy reading!

He reached out, sliding his hand past her neck and into the mass of dark hair that hung above her shoulders, grasping it to bring her closer, his breath upon her lips. “You are correct in saying that desires often come from things we cannot easily gain—mine, being that of your love. By all accounts, I do wish I could steal it. But I am not that sort of man. I will wait. Forever and a day…I will wait.”

Dægan touched his cheek where the sting of her hand still tingled. “Conceivably, that was ill. Forgive me. But I still believe she wanted something more than just a passing moment at the water’s edge. And I know there is a large part of you, no matter how much you deny it, that longs for the same. I saw it in your eyes. And I can give you that. I want to give you that. If you like the river as much as you say you do, then you will love the sea. You will love seeing your homeland from the distant bows of a ship where the meadow’s flowery arms wave in polite parting and the hills stand up to bid you farewell. ‘Tis like nothing you have ever seen. Come with me. Let me take you on the sea and show you what true freedom is.”

This time, he pulled her face toward his, prohibited her from anymore wayward glances. “Look not upon them. Your eyes needn’t see what wickedness I have done.” He drew her closer and cradled her head into his shoulder. “When the rain dies down, I shall remove them from here. Just sleep. I will stay awake and keep watch. By my guess, they will not be back without the help of reinforcements and by that time, we shall be long gone. At first light, rain or shine, we will be gone.”

He took her hand and placed her open palm firmly on his chest, interlacing her fingers with his own. “What I say to you is not easy, for I am a warrior of Thor and a son of Odin. In my youth I gave an oath, an oath that is stronger than a bond between men, and to break it, means I will not have a share in their glory upon my death. But hear me now, Mara. I would rather die in your arms, than die a courageous death for Odin’s approval or for Thor’s immense pride. I want to be as we are now, together in peaceful arms, waiting for the start of each day. I want to wake every morning to the sight of your blessed face, to the feel of your body against mine, and your kiss on my lips. I want to be with you forever…in this life and the next! What glory you give my heart is beyond a war god’s understanding. I need not Odin or Thor anymore. I could die right now—right here—and be a happy man. Marry me and make me a jubilant man!”

“I heard you,” Breandán replied, adoring those words. “But ‘tis not something you should say to me. Do you not know how hard I am trying to stand here and look at you, and not greedily take what is rightfully another man’s?”

“Fine. I love her. But what good does it do to proclaim it? My heart’s longing will never be satisfied. At the least you might find consolation in that, Northman. Be that as it may, I will protect her with every beat of my heart and there is naught you can do about it.”

“You have always known where I stood when it came to you,” he said in a low whisper. “Naught has changed in my heart since we last saw each other. And it never will.”

“Because I know ‘twould make you happy. Your happiness is all I have ever cared about.”

Breandán dipped his head lower to meet her eyes. “What I said about Dægan was not a lie. He was a good man and I am honored to have known him. No doubt, we had our differences, but we also shared a common ground—your welfare. Even between the many years that have separated us, I still care for you as much now as I did then. It pains me to know you have been alone all this time. But rest assured,” he proclaimed, lifting her chin with his hand. “You are no longer alone. As a friend, I will be here for you…for as long as you allow me.”

I hope you enjoyed them! And feel free to let me know your thoughts...I always welcome feeback.

It's All In How He Says It...(part 1)

Hello Sweet N Sexy Divas! I’m so glad to be here today because instead of posting an excerpt from my new release, SILENT PARTNER, I’ve decided to mix it up a bit and share some of my favorite lines spoken from my dark, swarthy hero, Grayson Anders.

To give a little background on this irresistible Alpha male, he’s a single, wealthy entrepreneur and dance club owner living in the historic region of Boston (Back Bay) who is looking for the perfect dance partner for a studio he wishes to open. He’s earned a reputation as a ladies man and has a knack for charming his way into a woman’s heart with his talented hips and fancy footwork. He can literally have any woman he wants, but once he sees and dances with Chloe, no other woman will do. And did I mention Grayson’s rather adamant once he's made up his mind?

Hope you enjoy!

#1)   You’re a pretty little thing,” he said, leaning against the bar. “A girl like you shouldn’t be anywhere alone. Especially here.”

“Easy Don Juan,” Jack interrupted as he slammed another shot of Tequila on the slick lacquered wood of the bar. “She’s new.”

“I can see that.”

#2)  “I’m with you on the privacy thing,” he said coyly. “Because once I kiss you, I’m not going to stop, and no one else needs to see me tear off your clothes.”

* * *

#3)   “I’m not going to hurt you, and I’m not going to force you upstairs to my apartment. You decide. Right here. Right now. But once you unlock this door…you’re mine. All night long…”

* * *

#4)   Grayson sighed, not expecting to get judgment from a bristly cab driver. Richard, yes. But not Big Gerry. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet, turning up a crisp hundred. He tossed it over the front seat. “Will that help you to remember her name?”

“Shit, for that much I can tell you what color her panties were.”

“I already know that,” Grayson stated with a wry grin. “I’m looking for her name, and if you take another gander, I’m betting that dead president is worth an address as well.”

A Contemporary Virgin

Contrary to what the title above says, I am not going to talk about a modern-day romance heroine who has saved herself for Mr. Right. I'm talking about myself. And no! I'm not trying to say, that throughout my near-forty years of life, I've upheld a level of chasteness through abstaining from sexual intercourse. Come on, who are we kidding? Let's face it...I'm a romance author and I have two children.

What I'm referring to is the fact that I've just finished writing my very first contemporary romance novel and I am no longer a contemporary virgin. I've made the leap from being only an historical romance author to the oh-the-possibilities-are-endless contemporary genre! And I must say, it was an eye-opening experience.

For one, the research was not quite as extensive as what is required for a well-written historical. And that was a very nice change of pace. Plus, I was able to just cruise right along in the dialogue department. No worrying about whether certain words existed, or whether that common phrase circa'ed one hundred years after my hero lived. I felt like someone had opened the cage door. Unshackled the ball and chain from my ankles. Set me free. Let me run wild with no restrictions or rules.

Now, don'g get me wrong...historicals are my favorite and they will always have a special place in my heart for both reading them and writing them. But, to experience, first hand, the differences in writing a contemporary novel versus an historical, was truly exciting and immensely rewarding. Especially when I wrote the last line of the story and met my deadline.

So, I thought I'd share a little about my upcoming April release. It was only supposed to be an ebook (novella), but it turns out I wrote enough words for it to also be available in print. And that really makes me happy, because from the moment I saw my cover, I wanted this groundbreaking contemporary novel (groundbreaking for me, anyway) to be available in print so I could hold and cradle the product of my lost contemporary virginity.

Silent Partner
By Renee Vincent

Blurb:

Grayson Anders has it all. He’s the co-owner of a happening nightclub in downtown Boston, he’s wealthy, and women practically throw themselves at his feet the moment he steps on the dance floor. But profiting from these obvious benefits is not his desire. His passion is dancing and he wants nothing more than to find the perfect dance partner.

Chloe LaRoche is a talented artist, but a failing entrepreneur. Her once thriving studio is now on the brink of foreclosure and unless she paints the next Van Gogh Starry Night, she’ll have to cut her losses and say goodbye to her quaint little gallery. Fearing her career is at an end, she drags herself to the local hot spot, determined to drown her worries in the bottom of a shot glass. At least that was the plan…until she lays eyes on a wickedly sexy, swarthy dancer in the club—Grayson Anders.

Unable to resist, Chloe finds herself in Grayson’s arms, indulging in a passionate, out-of-control, one night stand. And when they awaken the next morning, they are both consumed with inspiration.

Grayson finds his perfect dance partner and Chloe finally finds her muse. But, will her secret destroy both their dreams?
