What’s the Big Deal About 50 Shades?

Greetings fans of Sweet and Sexy Divas! Happy Monday and since it’s my post again, I decided to take the opportunity to talk about the hype of 50 Shades of Grey. Just in case you’ve been living under a rock and hadn’t heard, the 50 Shades Trilogy is all the rave right now. It’s brought erotica and soft core BDSM to the forefront, making people everywhere talk. Many have dismissed the book as Twilight fanfic and or Mommy Porn which I absolutely despise. Still, the book is on the NYT bestsellers lists and has landed the author spots on 20/20 as well as a multi-million dollar movie deal.
Now, let me say first, this article I’m writing is not to dismiss 50 Shades. It does irk me that many who’ve read it have said it’s not well written. One of my friends who writes fanfic as I do says it’s very flat and uneventful but I can’t say anything till I read it, so I won’t chastise the author at all.
Still, this article is more of a conversational piece. To those that have read it, what do you like and why? Again, my friend also says the best part is the email conversation between the characters but she couldn’t connect with either person because the descriptions were close to nil. She also said, she saw the female main character as Bella. the female lead in Twilight throughout which annoyed her. *giggle and rolls eyes* Honestly, I haven’t read the Twilight series but just the trailers were enough to turn me off.
Despite all of this, the book, 50 Shades intrigues me and I look forward to seeing for myself. What bothers me more than anything is the reactions. Women act is if there weren't any erotica books before this one but I have to say, it's been a while since I've seen an erotica book on Walmart bookshelves so the lady has made an impact.
