Where do they come from?

It's a question I'm constantly asked by readers, fans and other authors.

For me they come from anything. I can see a person sitting in the airport staring out the window and wonder what's on their mind. A lover? A new person in their life. Business? What about the waitress at the restaurant? Maybe the guy in the corner by himself is interested in her and comes in every day for coffee just to look at her, but he's too shy to talk to her. How about the person in the car next to me at the stop light? A new song on the radio? I love getting new ideas from all over the place and it's exciting to think up a story to go along with what I'm thinking. Songs are my favorite though. Someone told me once songs are just 90 second stories which is really true. If you think about it, they are. They might not necessarily start with where they first meet, but where the people in the song are in their lives.

So next time you glance across the room or see someone standing in line at Starbucks, let your imagination run wild and think up a short story for them. You'll be surprised at the way your mind will wander off into the great unknown. Experience the first kiss between lovers. How they slowly moved toward each other. The taste of his lips--the softness--the brush of his tongue asking to you to open for his invasion. The touch of his hand at the small of your back as he draws you closer.

Sneak Peek: My Self-Pubbed Cover

Hello Peoples!

In a couple months, I am going to be making the leap into self-pubbing a story! It's a very interesting experience and quite a bit different than the traditional e-publishing model that I am used to. A bit scary, sure, but also exhilarating in how I as the author am in control from beginning to end (yes, that may come to bite me in the butt later, but right now I'm on an "anything is possible" high).

While the story won't be available until May, I am debuting a sneak peek right here of my cover! World Premiere!

Q: Where are you from?

Jan: I was born and raised in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

 Q. What do you write?

Jan: I write erotic romances. Several genres include: contemporary, futuristic and paranormal (vampire). I write m/f as well as ménage stories. I have several series at Ellora’s Cave, plus a series “The Desperadoes” at Siren BookStrand. I’ve also been published by other electronic publishers, plus Pocket Books. Q: When do you write? Do have a routine?

Jan: I try to stick to a routine, but life always has a way of interrupting. Lately my mornings are for running errands. In the afternoons and evenings I write as I am a full time writer and that’s how I pay my bills. :-)

 Q:  What are your favorite books?

Jan: I love reading Maya Banks, Lora Leigh and a bunch of other authors.

Q: What do you do when you have writer’s block?

Jan: I walk through my writer’s blocks. Sometimes it takes just one walk and other times several walks to figure things out. I will also go onto another writing project while I work out a block regarding a current storyline. That seems to help.

Q: What are your hobbies?

Jan: I love hiking in the woods, gardening, baking, camping, kayaking, watching movies and reading and writing.

Q: What’s your most favorite place in the world?

Jan: I love the wooded area between Wawa and Terrace Bay, Ontario in Canada. The seclusion and peacefulness of the area really relaxes you. That’s where my very first book idea (Peppermint Creek Inn – Ellora’s Cave) was born.

Q: What’s your favorite quote?

Jan: Lately I’ve been having a lot of experience with this quote – “Before you diagnose yourself with low self esteem or depression, first make sure that you are not, in fact, surrounded by assholes.” (I hope I’m allowed to say the last word here?)  LOL

The above quote does make one pause and think, don’t you think?

Q: What is your most popular series?

Jan: Outlaw Lovers (Ellora’s Cave)

Q: Do you have any pets?

Jan: Yep. I run a nursing home for cats (kidding). I have two senior cats, 1 is almost 18 years old with health issues and 1 is 10 years old with overweight issues. I have another cat, who is maybe 4 years old with hand issues. Unfortunately she hates hands…she bites them. Hard. She was a stray when I took her in and I assume she was abused by a previous owner. I’ve had her for three years and she’s just now starting to allow me to hug her. Those moments are so precious and my heart sings at how far she has come in trusting me.

Q: What’s your next release?

A: Captive Heroes – Ellora’s Cave. (No release date yet) It's the final book in my Heroes at Heart series. It’s a futuristic erotic romance

Q: And after that?

A: LOL. Resistance – Outlaw Lovers 5…I’m just finishing it up. Should be done within a few days and I plan to submit it for consideration to Ellora’s Cave. After that…I have several more stories on the burner.

Q: What's your latest release?

New book out..Yay!!!!

It's always so thrilling when a new book comes out. Any author slaves and writes, rewrites, agonizes over the best way to word a thought before it escapes, and then suffers through edits which alway seem kinda stupid at first but end up forcing you to admit the criticism was not only correct but an improvment.



Seducing Simon is the seventh book in the mage series. It came out this week as an e-book, and will be pubbed in print next month combined with Victoria's Vision, under the title Love's Magic.

“Simon, I’ve never given a lasting thought to being anybody’s but yours. The others who tried to get my attention didn’t have a chance. Sometimes I felt quite sorry for them.”
A fleeting shadow in her eyes made him wonder if she’d at least considered one of her suitors. Still he arched his eyebrows at her ingenuous statement and then gave in to his rampaging desire. Of course other men had wanted her. But she’d chosen him and saved her body just for him. His heart soared as he looked at her loving face.
He gave up any other thought and captured her lips with his. The first touch made him fight for control. After one gasping, ‘my beautiful Troy’, there was no more conversation.
They kissed frantically, for so long that Simon feared he’d climax before he’d even begun to show her pleasure. He slowed the kissing down and gradually changed to caressing her with a patience he hadn’t known he possessed. She’d not found true satisfaction when they were in the pool, and he determined she’d experience the ultimate joy now. After a few seconds he took one breast in his mouth. He teased the left nipple by gently dragging the pebbled tip with the links of his gold bracelet, as she gasped and pushed her breasts up for more.
