Delicious quotes ! ! ! !

Bought a new book the other day, which is not unusual for me, but this is a small book with the intriguing title, Dance First, Think Later. It’s by Kathryn and Ross Petras, and it’s filled with delicious quotes that make you either smile or think. Mostly both!

Here are a few:

1. Find things that shine and move toward them.  Mia Farrow

2. Go to the edge of the cliff and jump off. Build your wings on the way down. Ray Bradbury

3. If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes. Clement of Alexandria

4. If two friends come and ask you to judge in a dispute, don’t accept, because you will lose one friend; on the other hand, if two strangers come with the same request, accept, because you will gain one friend. St. Augustine

5. Things are almost never clear on Wall St, or when they are, it’s too late to profit from them. Peter Lynch

There are 618 rules in this little book, but don’t worry, I’ll stop now. If I get a good response to them will pick some of the others for another blog. They are really fun to read.

This is the cover of my latest Elf book. Isn't he gorgeous. I'm going to give you the opening lines, unedited as yet.

Vale slipped into entered the room in his customary manner, hoping to be the observer instead of the observed. His white-blond hair floated to his shoulders, proclaiming him the true son of his beautiful mother. His trim athletic frame made a definite statement he’d battle anyone who questioned his hair’s unfashionable length. Or heaven forbid, commented rudely on his peaked elves’ ears that sometimes showed through the shining fall. Not many misinterpreted the strength that lithe build promised. Vale never sought a fight, but he didn’t suffer fools. Not thinking of anything except finding his mother, he paused in the doorway and looked for her.

A multiple and very audible gasp almost made him turn back. Hell, the whole damned room was filled with females. He was thoroughly tired of young ladies going into ecstasies when they caught a glimpse of him. He automatically flashed a killer smile as he looked around the room, not really seeing any of them, thinking only of how soon he could escape.

Damned if he hadn’t walked into a mare’s nest of nubile young females. What was this, a meeting of the grab-that-available-bachelor society? He’d only come into the parlor in search of his mother. Fortunately Sophie, Countess Erricksen, spotted him and grinned as she saw his hesitation. She came to him quickly.

“Sorry, love, I should have warned you.” Turning to the group, she gripped him by arm.

“Ladies, this is my youngest son, Valentin. Now all of you settle down. He’s not up for auction.”

The most avid of the eager young ladies smiled or tittered. Their eyes glittered, and Vale had a feeling they’d mass attack except for his mother. He tried to control his shudder.

Out of the corner of his eyes he caught a glimpse of one girl looking down at the floor, in a manner he could almost call contemptuous. Arrested, he observed her more closely. Hair of a more honeyed shade than Vale’s, or even his brother Matt. A golden-maple, he thought. Much longer than his and as silky-looking as slippery water. Swept into a shining fall down her back, he thought it the most beautiful hair he’d even seen. She gave one look at him, snorted, and frowned. He had a brief glimpse of eyes shading from dark blue to purple. Were there dark rims around those gorgeous blues? He had only a second or two before she glanced at her lap and did not raise her scornful eyes again.

Vale hesitated, his hair shimmering white in sun streaming into the window. Another joint gasp made him long to raise his elf’s ears and waggle them at the girls. Hell, even if he did, this mindless gaggle would likely think it sexy instead of scaring them.

He pulled his mother close enough to whisper in her ear.   “Mama, come see me when you have time to talk.”

He turned to walk away. Nothing else he could do at this point."

It's past new years but I still want to wish you all have a special year!
