Delaney Diamond's Baby-Making Playlist

What do I mean by baby-making? I’m not talking about a stork or immaculate conception. I’m talking about songs that make you want to have sex. From a writer's point of view, the right song can get you in the perfect mindset to create a love scene where the sex is steamy and you constantly have to wipe your fogged up computer screen. In real life, the same song could put you in the mood to jump your partner’s bones and “get busy” without the need for foreplay.

Sometimes it’s the words, other times it’s just the melody. You’re really in trouble if it’s a combination of both.

I’ve put together a list of songs I think are sexy, in no particular order. Some of these are self-explanatory from the title alone. I may have to do a Part II to this list because it was supposed to be a list of ten, but I couldn’t stop. I finally had to cut myself off and accept there are a lot of songs that have been made that can get you into trouble.

The kings of baby-making music, Luther Vandross and Teddy Pendergrass belong on this list, but if I listed all of their songs, I wouldn’t have room for anyone else. Play a song by either of these guys and you will get laid. Guaranteed.

Honorable mentions are Sade, Joe, and Carl Thomas. I never heard a song from them I didn’t like.

Warning: These songs serve as an aphrodisiac. Play them at your own risk, and if you don’t plan to expand your family, stock up on birth control because you'll need it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Without further ado, I give you Delaney Diamond’s Baby-Making Playlist
  • Cause I Love You, Lenny Williams
  • Sex Therapy, Robin Thicke - “As hard as you want to, soft as you want to; just let me love you, lay right here; I’ll be your fantasy.”
  • Be My Little Freak, Usher
  • Hot Toddy, Usher
  • How Does It Feel?, D'Angelo
  • Sexual Healing, Marvin Gaye
  • Love Sex Magic, Ciara - The video is really sexy too.
  • Ride It, Ciara
  • Lollipop, Lil Wayne
  • Wicked Game, Chris Isaak
  • Tonight I’m Loving You, Enrique Iglesias
  • Slow Hand, Pointer Sisters - “I want a lover with an easy touch; I want somebody who will spend some time.” Don’t we all.
  • Do Me Baby, Bell Biv DeVoe - “You can do me in the morning, you can do me in the night, you can do me when you wanna do me." The not-so-subtle refrain, “Do me baby," and "Do you mind if I look at you while we make sweet love?" make this a winner.
  • Sex On Fire, Kings of Leon - This song is for when you’re in the mood to skip the foreplay and get straight to the action. Whew!
  • I’d Rather Be With You, Bootsie Collins
  • Shake You Down, Gregory Abbott
  • Touch It, Monifah
  • Kiss You All Over, Exile - “Love you, need you, I wanna kiss you all over till the night closes in.” (*Swoon*)

(*Fanning*) Is it hot in here or is it just me?

I realize that my choices may not be yours. In the comments, tell me what some of your favorites are.

Delaney Diamond writes sweet and sensual African-American and interracial romance novels. Her characters are always so hot for each other they don’t need baby-making music to get them in the mood. Her latest release in the Hot Latin Men series is Fight for Love.

Blurb:

Science teacher Rebekah Jamison lives a quiet life in the suburbs of Atlanta. Devastated by a tabloid scandal nine years ago, she ended her marriage to the man her parents never approved of.

Rafael Lopez, former professional wrestler and “Sexiest Athlete Alive,” regrets the lapse in judgment that caused him to lose his wife. He shows up unannounced one day with some startling news, but he gets a surprise of his own. He finds out he’s a father. To get to know his son, he whisks him and Rebekah off to his home in the Hollywood Hills for the summer.

Excerpt:

“Rafe,” she warned. She tried to ease out of his embrace, but found her efforts thwarted by his brute strength. “All right, you’ve proven your point. You’re stronger than me. You can let me go now.”

“Maybe I’m not done proving my point, ángel,” he drawled. The sensuous sound of his voice tugged at her heartstrings.

He lowered his head in one swift motion and took her mouth, startling and arousing her at the same time. He cradled the back of her head in his palm, and her anger dissipated like morning fog in the first rays of sunlight. Her fingers curled into his powerful arms as he bent her over his arm. Teasing teeth tugged the sensitive flesh of her lower lip until she could no longer bear it and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck to urge a fuller exploration.

His expert tongue delved between her lips, stroking the sensitive cavern of her mouth to elicit a moan of burgeoning desire from the back of her throat. The taste of him was intoxicating, flooding her taste buds with a flavor that far surpassed the memories she’d tucked away in the deep recesses of her mind.

When Rafael slipped his hand over the curve of her breast and shaped the soft flesh, a shudder coursed through her. In the back of her mind, she knew she should be stronger than this, but she’d always been weak for him. Nothing had changed.
